Pest Talk
Many of you who receive our full service for your Green Termite Bait Systems may have already noticed a change in your garden. The rubber plugs in your baits are no longer there!
We have now introduced the Ec2c Termite Window. This smart window is being retrofitted to existing full service customers over the next few months. We literally have thousands of baits to change. We are doing it, slow and steady and are currently 50% completed. Best of all it is a FREE upgrade for our full service clients. If your baits haven't been converted yet, be patient, it will happen shortly.
D.I.Y clients have no need to change, but we are offering the choice. If you are not on one of our full service plans you can convert to the new Ec2c Termite Window for a small charge of $33.00 inc GST. We will supply you with the windows, the glue, the instructions, the revised D.I.Y "Easy Instruction Book" all sent to your door post paid. Just repeating; the new Ec2c Termite Window doesn't make the Green Termite Bait work any better than the old plug system, it is simply easier to inspect, so there is no need to upgrade if you are happy to keep checking by removing the rubber plugs.
Alternatively, if you are a D.I.Y client in our service area (S.E. Qld) we can come and do it for you for $99.00 inc GST.
So, what are the advantages of the new Ec2c Termite Window? They are as follows:
-
Checking the baits is easier.
-
There is no disturbance of the termites when the baits are checked.
-
The baits are now totally child-proof, pet-proof (unless the dog or bush turkey actually digs the whole bait out!) and adult-proof (now you can be curious without scaring off the termites between our visits!)
The Ec2c Termite Window is more convenient, speeding up the inspection process and assuring positive confirmation of termite activity in a Green Termite Bait without disturbing the termites inside the bait. The original termite baits still work fine as they have done for over 9 years.
Those of you who know us well, know we are always looking for
ways to improve our product and our service. That said, I can tell you that we
have developed two versions of the Ec2c Termite Window. The current version is
our "conversion" version. What a mouthful! It's perfect for the upgrade of
existing termite baits. Strong, tough and durable - these words all mean the
same??
The Ec2c Termite Window (lets call it Mark 2) will also be
launched soon. In fact production is happening right now. However, Mark 2 is
not suitable as a conversion for existing baits previously installed in the
ground. It will soon be pre-installed on all new baits. You will get to see it
when your old baits are replaced after a treatment for termites, or replaced due
to old age. Hopefully you can see it by the time we send you our next
newsletter.
Prices? Yes, we have had a price change. The new Green
Termite Baits have gone up by a small $3.00 each and our installation charges
are now $200.00 inc GST. There are no other changes. We will still honour any
quotes that we have made at the old price until the end of March 2005. So... if
you are sitting on the fence with a quote in your hands and you are still
undecided, now is the time to save money and get your baits installed.
There are no price rises for our full service all-inclusive Green
Termite Bait Systems clients. We are absorbing the cost.
Likewise the
call-out charge for D.I.Y customers is still the same, as is the charge for
applying the Intrigue dust. The new replacement bait will cost $27.50.
Oh
boy, are we busy! New products mean new literature, new trademarks, and tons of
work for all our staff as we transition from old to new. For you, it simply
means an even better termite baiting system and less to worry about.

Quick Survey Results.
A big "thank you" to everyone who responded to our survey question: "Is our newsletter too long?"
We received a 4.5% response consisting of 27 replies, 22 said
"Just Right" and 5 said "Too long". 0 said too short, and my Mum said there was
no spelling mistakes!
One respondent did suggest that if you find it too
long, just scan it for the bits that interest you and only read those parts.
Good idea!
Customer Question of the Month.
This month's question of the month comes from a selected part
of an email sent to me from my brother in Sydney. He has his rental properties
protected with the Green Termite Bait System. Only thing is, he asks his
tenants to check the baits for him. (Dream on!) My reply is meant to
be fun whilst conveying a message at the same time.
Hi Jerry,
Good to talk to you today, after a few failed attempts over the last
month or so. I just jumped onto your web site and again it is totally different
(about every 6 months I have a look). I liked the link to 'Pestworld for Kids'.
I wanted to print of some information for my tenants so they know what
to look for when they check the baits. I remember you had a photo of what the
bait would look like from the top as you peer into the holes. Now they are all
different with your fandangle Ec2c invention (nice one by the way!). Do you have
any old slides or a pdf with a few pages with instructions and pictures of what
to actually check for.
I have had the agent explain it all, but either
the message has been watered down or they just don't understand what they are
looking for.
Cheers,
Dave.
Reply:
Hi Dave,
Yeah it's nice to chat.
I'm so busy I can't believe it.
6 people
working full time 12 hours a day each and still pushing it. I'm working on so
many great ideas. I used to think that when Jamie grew up there would be nothing
left to find. It seems that way, but once your eyes start seeing possibilities
then a whole room of possibilities comes to light.
Checking baits is
easy, but some adults seem to find ways to make a simple look a total stuff up.
For Example:
D: You pull out the plug...
J: Yeah...
D: Then you looking inside right?
J: Yes Dave...
D: Then what?
J: Well... You either see termites or their mud; or you don't!
D: Doh! What if I'm not sure what I'm seeing?
J: Like what?
D: Like... I don't know... I don't know what I'm not sure I'm not seeing. If I knew what I wasn't sure what I wasn't seeing I'd want to know if it was termites or something else. Do you think it might be something else?
J: Sure Dave... It's probably the Loch Ness Monster in miniature after aliens zapped it, shrunk it and put in the bait at night when you weren't looking... Just so they could confuse you when you eventually plucked up your courage to take a look!
D: You really think so??
J: Nah.
So Dave, just keep it simple. Mud looks like
mud. Termites look like termites (creamy white in colour) and if they don't know
what a termite looks like, there are plenty of pictures here to show them.
http://www.greenpest.com.au/termite_photos.html
The "D.I.Y Easy Instruction Book also has pictures of
termites."
The thing is, if it's in a Green Termite Bait - it is most
likely a termite because it is nearly impossible for other pests to get into a
properly installed bait. If they do find a non-target pest, then it is probably
because the bait is past its use-by date and needs replacing.
The good
news is that the new Ec2c Termite Window makes it even simpler. Now, you only
have to look for mud in the window.
D: What about mud on the window?
J: David!!!
Bip bip bibbidy bip. That's all folks!
Quote of the month.
To paraphrase from memory:
"You don't have to natter on. Just give me the damn baits. My daughter's got 'em so I already know they work. Just do it." ... From a feisty no-nonsense 70 year old Thornlands lady who knows what she wants.
